Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a debt? Tap the “+” button on the Dashboard. Enter the debt name (e.g., “Chase Visa”), current balance, interest rate (APR), and minimum monthly payment. PayDown instantly recalculates your payoff plan.
What’s the difference between Snowball and Avalanche? Snowball pays off your lowest balance first for quick wins and motivation. Avalanche pays off your highest interest rate first to save the most money on interest. You can switch between methods anytime to see how each affects your payoff timeline.
How do I log a payment? Tap on a debt from your Dashboard, then tap “Log Payment.” Enter the amount you paid and the date. PayDown updates your balance and recalculates your payoff projections automatically.
How do I add an extra payment? When logging a payment, simply enter an amount higher than your minimum. PayDown’s plan already accounts for your total available monthly payment — any amount above minimums is applied to your target debt (the one the Snowball or Avalanche method prioritizes).
Does PayDown connect to my bank? No. PayDown is completely offline and private. You manually enter your debts and log payments. Your financial data is stored only on your device and never uploaded anywhere.
How accurate are the payoff projections? Projections are based on the balances, interest rates, and payment amounts you enter. They assume consistent monthly payments and fixed interest rates. Real-world results may vary if rates change or payments fluctuate.
How do I manage my subscription? Go to your iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > PayDown. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from there. You can also manage your subscription from the Settings tab within the app.
How do I restore my purchases? Open PayDown > Settings > Restore Purchases. This will restore any active subscriptions associated with your Apple ID.
What happens if I delete the app? All your debt and payment data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app will permanently remove all data. We recommend keeping regular device backups through iCloud or your computer.
I found a bug. How do I report it? Email us at ben@thefoghill.com with a description of the issue, your device model, and iOS version. Screenshots help!
